Soul Music Lessons is based in the Suwanee and Cumming area, serving students from across Forsyth, Gwinnett, Fulton, DeKalb, and Cobb counties. We offer private and group lessons in violin, viola, piano, guitar, bass guitar, music theory, and ensemble for students ages 4 through adult.

Every instrument has its own path, its own physical demands, and its own learning curve. We match students with instruction that fits where they are, not where we wish they had started.
Who We Teach
Young beginners (ages 4-7): Short, focused sessions built for developing attention spans. The priority is building a physical relationship with the instrument and making the early experience genuinely enjoyable. Parents are actively involved because practice happens at home.
Kids (ages 8-12): This is the window where most students enter school music programs. Private lessons align directly with school orchestra and band expectations. Students preparing for middle school auditions get curriculum that targets exactly what those programs require.
Teens (ages 13-17): High school orchestra students, competitive audition candidates, and students aiming at youth orchestras get serious, focused preparation. We work with students preparing for GMEA All-State, Fulton County and Forsyth County honor ensembles, and regional youth orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Adults (18+): Adults who want to start from scratch, return after years away, or develop a skill they always meant to pursue are fully welcome. We teach working professionals, parents who sit in on their child's lessons and decide to try, and retirees discovering music later in life. Evening and weekend lessons are available.
How Lessons Work
Every student begins with a no-commitment evaluation lesson. We assess current level, talk through goals, and design an individual plan. There is no standard curriculum that every student follows, because no two students start with the same background, motivation, or learning style.
Lessons are weekly. No semester lock-in, no registration fees, no long-term contracts. Pause when life requires it. Switch teachers if the fit is not right. End whenever you need to.
Private and Group Lessons
Private lessons give students individual attention every week. Group lessons give students the experience of playing alongside other musicians, matching pitch and rhythm in real time, and performing in a low-stakes ensemble setting. Many students do both.
Our ensemble sessions bring together 3 to 8 students with instruments from across the studio, including piano, guitar, bass, saxophone, trumpet, and drums. Students learn their individual parts in private lessons first, then combine in ensemble sessions. Every session works toward playing a full song from beginning to end, together.
Practice Tools
Between lessons, students can use our free practice tools: chromatic tuner, metronome, ear training exercises, scale visualizer, note identification tool, and chord finder. Our free library has sheet music at every level.

The music ecosystem in North Metro Atlanta is unusually strong. School orchestra programs in Forsyth, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties consistently produce students who advance to state-level competitions and regional youth orchestras. The Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Gwinnett County Youth Symphony, and the Alpharetta Symphony Youth Orchestras all operate within a reasonable drive of our studio.
We prepare students for all of these programs. Students who participate in youth orchestras and honor ensembles consistently report that private instruction was the single biggest factor in their placement.
